West Bank firefight

A Palestinian disarmed an Israeli soldier and opened fire on invading forces near the illegal Havat Gilad settlement outpost during a military raid on the small town of Tell, southwest of Nablus, killing two soldiers and wounding three others.

Palestine Chronicle says Israeli forces and state-backed armed settlers then launched raids across Tell and neighboring communities, killing four Palestinians, setting fire to homes, and converting residential buildings into field interrogation centers.

In a separate incident south of Hebron, the Israeli army said it was pursuing a Palestinian after clashes near the Susya area in which it claimed that "a Palestinian snatched the weapon of one of the Israelis" and that gunshots were fired into the air.

The Israeli army also said it set up military checkpoints in the area and began sweeps and pursuit of the Palestinian it accused of seizing the weapon, while adding that a settler was injured by stone-throwing and was transported for treatment.

Competing accounts

In the Tel area west of Nablus, Palestine Chronicle described a confrontation in which Israeli forces and state-backed armed settlers carried out raids and killed four Palestinians while setting fire to homes.

Reuters, as cited in the Il Sole 24 ORE live update, said the West Bank was in turmoil after a shooting near a settlement in which "two Israelis and four Palestinians were killed," and the army laid siege to Nablus and raided a nearby town.

In the Susiya area south of Hebron, Anadolu Ajansı reported that Israeli sources said clashes involved stone-throwing and that the army deployed military checkpoints and began sweeps and a pursuit of the Palestinian it accused of seizing the weapon.

Anadolu Ajansı also quoted activist Nasr Nuwaj'eh saying there was "no confirmed information yet about what happened," adding that residents heard gunshots and saw Israeli vehicles moving toward the area before the closure and deployment of troops.

Detentions and escalation

Palestine Chronicle reported that Save the Children said more than 1,000 Palestinian children had been forcibly displaced from their West Bank homes during the first half of 2026.

In the same West Bank escalation, the Shihab-linked update in the Palestine Chronicle stream also referenced a Gaza Health Ministry tally of six Palestinians killed and 37 injured over 48 hours as Israeli attacks continued despite the ceasefire.

In the Susiya incident, the Israeli army spokesperson account in عربي21 said Israeli forces set up military checkpoints and began sweep operations to pursue the Palestinian accused of taking the settler's weapon.

In parallel, وكالات صدى نيوز said the Israeli occupation army carried out a wide campaign of arrests across several regions of the West Bank, detaining at least 70 citizens and questioning hundreds, including arrests in Nablus, Ramallah, Jenin, Hebron, Bethlehem, Tulkarem, and Jerusalem.
