Power cut by drone strike
Unmanned attack aircraft belonging to the Rapid Support Forces targeted the Tandleti power station in White Nile State on Tuesday morning, causing a power outage in the town and nearby areas before the outage extended to several cities in North Kordofan State. A government source in Tandelti locality told Al Jazeera Net that the attack was carried out in two strikes, with the first hitting the main power station directly and the second falling outside the station's vicinity.
The direct strike led to a complete blackout in Tandelti and other areas in White Nile that rely on the station, and it also affected areas in North Kordofan State. A medical source for Al Jazeera Net said several injured people arrived at Tandelti Hospital following the attack, with no final casualty count available yet and no information about any deaths.
Displacement and service collapse
IOM warned that more than 200,000 people have recently had to leave their homes in the Sudanese region of Kordofan since the end of 2025 as intensified fighting, attacks on infrastructure, and seasonal floods aggravate a humanitarian crisis. IOM Director General Amy Pope said, “Across Sudan, families are fleeing violence, losing access to water, electricity, and health care, and they now also face the burden of destructive floods,” as displacement and essential service failures compound each other.
IOM reported that in the town of Sheikan, displacement increased by 25% over the last eight months, while in the whole region of Kordofan more than 200,000 people have had to leave their homes since the end of 2025. IOM also warned that delays in global supply chains, particularly those linked to the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, are adding pressure to a humanitarian response that already faces significant difficulties.
Weekend drone attacks and toll
La Lupa said a series of drone attacks carried out since Sunday left more than 100 dead across various regions of Sudan, based on reports from medical staff and local residents. La Lupa reported that the most serious incident occurred near a market in Al Dibab, in West Kordofan state, where a drone struck a public transport point and caused the immediate death of 80 people.
La Lupa added that the unmanned aircraft returned ten minutes after the first impact to carry out a second strike, increasing the death toll after the wounded were moved to health facilities where another 30 civilians died. La Lupa said an attack aimed at a house located to the east of the airport in Khartoum killed four people, including three children aged between two and six.
