Tanker hit in Hormuz
A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting inbound through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Sunday.

The incident occurred 12 nautical miles north of Oman's Khasab, and UKMTO said no casualties or environmental impact were reported.
UKMTO said it received a delayed report on Saturday of the incident, which it described in a warning notice as occurring while the tanker was transiting inbound in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Gulf News account said the UKMTO Operations Centre issued Warning 122-26 (Attack) on 30 August 2026, reporting a late notification of the incident.
Caution and investigation
UKMTO advised vessels to transit the area with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO, while authorities investigated the incident.
Anadolu Ajansı quoted UKMTO saying, "A tanker has been struck by an unknown projectile whilst transiting inbound in the Strait of Hormuz," citing military authorities as its source.
Gulf News said the vessel identity, flag, ownership, exact damage extent, and attribution were not publicly detailed in the initial UKMTO warning.
Kurdistan24 reported that the projectile caused a localized fire aboard the tanker and said no crew members were injured, with all personnel safe and accounted for.
US strike follows
The Maritime Executive said the UKMTO delayed report on Sunday came after a strike happened late on August 29, with the tanker 12 nautical miles off Khasab and no information about casualties or environmental pollution.
