Anadolu Agency (English), on Gaza, 24 October 2026

Anadolu names Israel as the actor in every killing it reports, names two of the dead, gives the Palestinian wounded a source, and calls Israel's assault on Gaza a genocidal war. One phrase, homes "evacuated by their residents", makes displacement under Israeli fire sound like a choice the residents made.

What we found

  1. Uses the occupation's words

    Minor

    “homes evacuated by their residents”

    What the words do
Describes houses Palestinians were driven out of as homes their own residents evacuated.
What a reader comes away believing
That the families left of their own accord, and that Israeli drones bombed empty buildings nobody was forced from.
    What is actually the case
The same sentence places these homes "near areas under Israeli military control", and Anadolu's own earlier report on the same area describes homes emptied under Israeli military pressure along the Yellow Line. The words for forced displacement, expelled or driven out, appear nowhere.

2 Palestinians, including woman, killed in latest Israeli violations of Gaza ceasefire

Two Palestinians, including a woman, were killed and four others wounded Saturday in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, medical sources told Anadolu. The attacks came amid continued Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement in place since Oct. 10, 2025. Medical sources said Fatima Abu Laban, a Palestinian woman, was killed by Israeli gunfire in the Tal al-Dhahab area of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza. Another Palestinian woman was wounded in the neck by Israeli gunfire in Beit Lahia, the sources added. Mohammad Anan al-Rawagh, a Palestinian youth, was killed and three others were wounded, one seriously, in an Israeli strike on the al-Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City, they said. Witnesses said an Israeli drone fired at least one missile at passersby near Palestine Stadium in the al-Rimal neighborhood. At dawn Saturday, Israeli drones dropped explosive boxes on near areas under Israeli military control in the al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City. The incident coincided with heavy gunfire from military vehicles in the surrounding area, local sources said. Israeli naval vessels also fired gunshots and shells toward Gaza City's coastline, with no injuries reported, according to the sources. Israeli ceasefire violations have killed 1,547 Palestinians and wounded 5,559 others as of Saturday, according to the latest figures from Gaza's Health Ministry. Since October 2023, Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians and wounded over 175,000, while causing widespread destruction affecting around 90% of the territory's civilian infrastructure.

What it gets right

  • “Fatima Abu Laban, a Palestinian woman, was killed by Israeli gunfire”

It names the woman killed and names who fired, rather than leaving a death with no actor.

  • “killed in latest Israeli violations of Gaza ceasefire”

The headline says plainly that Palestinians were killed and that Israel did it, matching the body.

  • “Israel's genocidal war on Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians”

It gives the scale of the killing and calls it what the UN Commission of Inquiry found it to be, without hedging.
