Shelling near Zibqine
Israeli artillery shelling hit the outskirts of Zibqine in the Tyre district, according to an Al-Manar correspondent in southern Lebanon. The Israeli army continued its escalation in southern Lebanon, as fighter aircraft bombed the Mansouri area in the Tyre district on Sunday evening.
Israeli warplanes also struck Nabatieh al-Fouqa, Beni Hayyan, and al-Qantara in southern Lebanon, while the Israeli army carried out detonations in Yahmor al-Shuqeif and al-Mansouri. The Israeli army set olive groves and citrus orchards in the outskirts of Majdal Zoun and Bayt al-Siyad on fire by dropping phosphorus bombs, and the Israeli force then advanced toward Deir Mimas and closed the town’s entrance, hindering residents’ entry and exit for a period.
Tanks, sweeps, and fires
Lebanese state media said an Israeli force of three Merkava tanks advanced toward Deir Mimas and blocked the town entrance, disrupting residents’ movement in and out of the town. The Israeli army searched several homes during the incursion and damaged telephone poles along the road before continuing its movements in the area, according to the same Lebanese state media.
Anadolu Ajansı said Israeli forces fired phosphorus munitions that sparked fires in olive groves and citrus orchards around Majdal Zoun and Buyout al-Sayyad in the Tyre district. Framework deal, continued attacks
Lebanon and Israel signed a US-sponsored Framework Agreement in Washington on June 26, providing for a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory and the deployment of the Lebanese army to areas vacated by Israeli forces. The Anadolu Ajansı account said Israel continued to carry out attacks in southern Lebanon and maintained a military presence in parts of the south, including territory it has occupied for decades and other areas seized during more recent wars and military operations.A
Mehr News Agency said Israeli air force strikes and heavy artillery shelling hit Wadi Balad Zeqeen, Al-Manasouri, Madjel Zoun, and nearby valleys, while flare grenades were fired over several villages in the western and central sectors. Mehr News Agency added that the Israeli army continues to carry out demolition, destruction, and earth-moving operations inside the villages it calls the “Yellow Line,” as it shells other villages with artillery, airstrikes, and drones.
