Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 36-year-old New York Democrat, said she is freezing her eggs and shared the process in a series of Instagram Stories and videos posted on Saturday.

Insurance, Costs, and Debate
Ocasio-Cortez said her insurance does not cover egg freezing, telling Shore News Network, “My insurance does not cover one penny for this,” and “It is 100% out of pocket… it covers nothing.”
She said she estimated the procedure would cost about $8,000, and she said it would now cost her $1,200 per year to store her frozen eggs.
In a separate account, Newsweek said she expects the procedure to cost about $8,000 to $9,000 and said she is paying “100 percent out of pocket.”
Fox News reported that Ocasio-Cortez said she was aware there could be a “political tax” associated with disclosing the decision, and she argued that the Trump administration has made pregnancy more dangerous than “probably at any point in the last 30-plus years.”F

Ocasio-Cortez linked her public disclosure to reproductive politics, telling ABC News’ “This Week” that “this administration is denying reproductive care to women across the country, from abortion rights to the ability to carry out a healthy pregnancy.”
