Siri expands in 27.2

Apple rolled out 27.2 software updates today, and the updates introduced improvements for Siri AI across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and more. Siri AI is expanding to more people around the world, with availability now in the French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish languages.

Siri AI is built on Apple Intelligence and is “entirely new version of Siri that is profoundly more capable, conversational, and personal,” while drawing on personal context understanding to help users find what they need across messages, emails, photos, and more. Language support for Siri AI will continue to expand, with availability in Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese coming by the end of the year.

New tools and controls

Apple’s 27.2 release added conversation recall so Siri AI can retain useful context from prior conversations, letting users ask about things they previously discussed such as restaurants it previously recommended. Apple also expanded what personal context sources Siri AI can tap into, including “photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees, your voicemails, and better results from Safari history and Reading List.”

Apple added an “Excluded Apps” option so users can choose which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access. Apple said Siri AI can answer questions or take actions related to the content on a user’s screen through onscreen awareness, and it can also use broad world knowledge to get up-to-date information on virtually any topic.

Where it works, and limits

Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU in iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS, and Apple said it is working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward. Siri AI is not available for users under 13, and certain Apple Intelligence features that rely on server-side models are subject to daily usage limits.

Daily limits may vary by feature, request complexity, system demand, system policies, and other factors, and expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future. Siri AI requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language, and Siri AI is available in beta in iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2, and visionOS 27.2.
