Khamenei rejects concessions
Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei used Iran’s National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance to say that anyone who still holds even slight hope that the system of “arrogance” will change is “badly mistaken.” Khamenei framed the confrontation as a long arc of US hostility, saying the “starting point” of oppression “goes back more than seven decades” to the “coup of the twenty-eighth of Mordad.”
Khamenei also argued that America’s hostility aims at “the partition of the country, the bringing of the nation to its knees, the collapse of the system, and the destruction of Iran's ancient and authentic civilization.” Khamenei said Iran’s resistance has met that effort with “the solid wall of ground reality” and “the firm rocks of the will of the zealous Iranian nation,” placing the costs of miscalculation “into a basket of heavy costs on the shoulders of the American people.”
IRGC vows unlimited response
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps warned that any new US-Israeli attack on Iran will be met with a “geographically unlimited” response, dismissing threats and psychological warfare as baseless. The IRGC said a statement issued on Tuesday marked Iran’s National Day of Fighting Arrogance and referred to a meeting where the Supreme Leader ordered the Iranian Armed Forces to respond “without geographical limitations.”
The IRGC said it updated its list of adversarial targets to include the “enemy’s tangible and intangible assets within range,” and it promised “an immediate, effective response without geographical limitations to threats of any level or kind.” The IRGC added that “The Armed Forces and the Iranian nation will determine when and under what circumstances the enemy’s attacks will end,” while Press TV described the statement as echoing warnings that any new act of aggression would trigger a response beyond US military bases and assets in the region.
Rallies and the deterrence message
Iranian officials and participants marked the 13th of Aban with rallies in Tehran and “more than 900 locations across the country,” with the Tehran march beginning at Palestine Square and proceeding along Taleqani Street toward the former US embassy. Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani told attendees that the Strait of Hormuz would not be reopened and that security and economic interests in the waterway must be guaranteed for all countries or none.
Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei linked the day to deterrence, saying “The only way to reach the point of absolute deterrence is to continue the strategy of ‘Iran ever stronger’” and that “unity, solidarity and social cohesion” are the main elements of success. The Guardian Council issued a statement saying “Conspiracies cannot break the unity of the Iranian nation,” and it invited “all people, especially the passionate generation of students” to join nationwide gatherings and marches on Aban 13 to convey “steadfastness and non-surrender.”
