Candace Owens and Andrew Wilson will debate Charlie Kirk's assassination on Friday. The debate is marketed as lucrative grift, amassing millions of views.

Debate for $300,000
A debate over Charlie Kirk’s assassination is set for Friday between Candace Owens and manosphere debater Andrew Wilson, with Will Sommer saying the event is being marketed as “the “Super Bowl of Charlie murder content.” Sommer, writing for Will Sommer says Charlie Kirk’s death is about to make some serious money for MAGA carrion feeders seeking payday, said Wilson would pay Owens a smooth $300,000 for being one-half of the debate duo.
The Bulwark also framed the matchup as a spectacle, stating that “Candace Owens, who is one-half of the debate duo, will walk away with $300,000.” The dispute is tied to the case’s ongoing conspiracy-theory ecosystem, with Media Matters later describing the debate as part of a monetized “who killed Charlie Kirk” universe.

Grift, views, and ads
Media Matters for America said the Owens-Wilson debate, streamed on YouTube as part of Valuetainment'sPBD Podcast, amassed at least 11 million views from 64 YouTube and Rumble channels. Media Matters also reported that a review found Owens, Wilson, and Patrick Bet-David “earned at least7.2 millioncombinedviewsacross YouTube and Rumble for their livestreams of the debate as of August 17.”
The New Republic similarly said Media Matters found “at least 58 other YouTube and Rumble channels” earned at least 3.9 million views by airing or reacting live. Media Matters further described the livestream as being paused “at least four times for a “three-and-a-half-minute ad break,” and it quoted Bet-David concluding, “The audience won, and again from the beginning all of this is because of how much love and respect we have for Charlie Kirk”.
Evidence fight turns personal
The Times of India described the August 14 discussion on the PBD Podcast as centered on the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s fatal shooting and the prosecution of Tyler Robinson, with Wilson arguing that “the available evidence points toward Robinson as the person responsible.” In the same account, the Times of India said Wilson expanded an earlier insult into a new line during the livestream, saying, “I Just Think All Women Are R*tarded.”
The Times of India also reported that Kirk was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, during a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Utah, and that Robinson, who was 22 at the time, surrendered the following day after his parents recognized him in surveillance images. The Times of India added that the criminal case “has not yet gone to trial,” and it said the debate unfolded as “a spectacle of competing narratives, personal attacks and deep mistrust, all unfolding before a massive online audience.”
