Pedaran executed in Iran
Iran executed Hossein Pedaran for alleged espionage and intelligence collaboration with Israel’s Mossad, Iranian judicial authorities said through the judiciary-run Mizan news agency.

AzerNews reported that Iran’s Supreme Court upheld the verdict after Pedaran’s appeal was rejected, and that the judiciary said he was arrested for providing classified military information to Mossad.
The reports also said authorities found a notebook containing missile-related materials marked “top secret,” encrypted data storage devices, communication equipment, and photographic and video equipment at his home, according to AzerNews.

El Mundo said the judiciary announced Pedaran was executed after the legal process was completed and the sentence confirmed by the Supreme Court, and it described Mizan’s account that he initially contacted the CIA via the internet and later contacted Mossad through the WhatsApp messaging app.

Infobae also said the Iranian press highlighted that Pedaran was convicted of “spying for Israel” and “transfer of information to the Mossad about the military centers and missiles in Isfahan and its workers,” and that the family received amounts of money in euros.
Rights groups cite executions
DIE WELT said human rights groups accuse the regime of systematically using the death penalty to intimidate, and it cited Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran saying more than 1,000 people are said to have been executed this year, a figure it said cannot be independently verified.
