PressTV and Anadolu Ajansı disagree on whether the expulsion is just West Asia or extends to the entire Muslim world.
IRGC calls it historic
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps welcomed the withdrawal of the international coalition led by the United States from Iraq and described it as a “historic victory,” while urging the departure of American forces from the Middle East.
The IRGC said it “congratulate[d] the Iraqi people, the Islamic Front for the Resistance (Iraqi), and the revolutionary fighters in the Muslim world on this historic victory,” according to a statement carried by its official media outlets.

The IRGC also framed the move as the result of “the will of the Iraqi people,” and it called on Washington to “leave the region and “leave the management of security to the peoples of its countries.”
The Anadolu Ajansı account said the U.S. ADefense Department marked the end of the military mission after the “orderly departure” of coalition forces and equipment from Erbil Air Base, while Pentagon chief spokesman Sean Parnell said the 12-year campaign “defeated ISIS as an organized military threat in Iraq and across the region.”
U.S. mission ends, Iran pivots
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi said security agencies had exercised control over the security scene in the country, thus ending the international coalition’s mission, and he stressed that a “new phase” had begun under “Iraq’s sovereignty, the strength of its institutions, the readiness of its forces, and its partnerships with its friends.” The IRGC directed a message to the United States, telling it to “leave the region and leave security management to the peoples of their countries,” as the withdrawal was described as a major historic event of significance for the “Axis of Resistance.”
Anadolu Ajansı reported that the IRGC called the U.S. departure “the herald of West Asia’s liberation from the yoke of the Great Satan’s domination,” and it described the U.S. presence in Iraq as lasting “for two decades.” AEuronews said al-Zaydi announced on Thursday that October 1, 2026 marks a serious starting point for addressing weapons beyond state control, and it set June 30, 2027 as the final deadline to complete the roadmap alongside the end of the international coalition’s mission.

Weapons deadline and factions
Iraq set June 30, 2027 as the deadline to finish weapon control of factions under state control, and al-Zaydi said October 1 represents a “serious start” to address the weapons file outside state control. The plan faced disagreement between the government and armed factions, and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq said it was “not bound by any timetable or agreement” announced by the government while confirming readiness to continue dialogue.
Mehr News Agency reported that the IRGC said the expulsion of America from Iraq was the result of the “steadfastness” of the Iraqi people and it urged “intelligence and vigilance” by the government, people and Resistance forces against “possible plots and seditions.” Mont Karlo Adawliyya said the end of the international coalition mission did not mean the end of the fight against terrorism, and it described the next test for Baghdad as enforcing the June 30, 2027 deadline and placing weapons under state control as armed factions maintained their positions.
