Israeli forces continued attacks across the Gaza Strip, and Gaza’s reported death toll since October 2023 rose to 73,669 as hospitals received the bodies of seven Palestinians during the previous 24 hours.

The Palestine Chronicle said Israeli airstrikes struck a residential home in the market area of Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, where at least six Palestinians were wounded, even though the latest attacks came despite a ceasefire that took effect in October 2025.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said the cumulative death toll since October 2023 had reached 73,669 while 174,652 Palestinians had been wounded, and it cautioned the figures remain incomplete because additional victims are believed to be trapped beneath destroyed buildings or stranded in areas that rescue teams cannot safely reach.
The ministry also said the latest figures include 1,358 Palestinians killed and 4,541 wounded since the ceasefire began on Oct. 11, 2025, and that authorities had recovered 831 bodies from beneath the rubble during the same period.
In parallel, WAFA reported that the death toll from Israel's ongoing war on the Gaza Strip had risen to 73,670 and that medical sources said hospitals across Gaza received one fatality and 30 injured Palestinians over the past 24 hours.
Named deaths and warnings
Beyond the daily casualty figures, the Palestine Chronicle reported that former Palestinian prisoner Farah Ahmad Hamed, known as “al-Natour,” was killed in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday after being targeted on Al-Rashid Street in the Sheikh Ajlin area, southwest of Gaza City.
The same report said Hamed, 49, died from wounds sustained after the targeting, and it placed his death nearly 15 years after he was released from an Israeli prison and exiled to the besieged enclave.
In a separate thread of armed messaging, the Palestine Chronicle also included a statement attributed to Abu Obeida, the military spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, warning Israel against the high cost of trying to free captives using military action.
The Palestine Chronicle further said Hamas’ Qassam Brigades retaliated with rockets targeting Tel Aviv, while Israel launched a ground operation in northern Gaza.
Meanwhile, Al-Bayan, quoting WAFA, said a Palestinian was killed and others were wounded north of the Gaza Strip by fire from Israeli army forces, and it described that a martyr arrived at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City along with injured people.

UNRIC’s overview of the UN response said that after fifteen months of intensive Israeli bombardments on Gaza, a ceasefire was announced on January 15, 2025 and took effect on January 19, 2025, and it described later Israeli decisions affecting aid entry points.
UNRIC added that on August 22, 2025 the UN confirmed that a famine is ongoing in the Gaza Governorate, while also stating that without sustained, large-scale food aid, Gaza could fall back into famine by 2026, the UN warns.
In the same UNRIC account, it reported that 94% of Gaza’s population needs housing assistance and support for basic needs, and that nearly two-thirds of households live in tents or makeshift shelters, as the war’s aftermath continues to shape what is at stake.
