Pezeshkian answers Trump

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded to U.S. President Donald Trump’s remarks by saying the Iranian nation will respond “in practice” and by asking, “Those who intended to break our Iran into pieces, where have they ended up?”

Pezeshkian said Iran believes it must “defend every inch of its territory in practice,” and he added that “These disrespectful remarks are only worthy of them, not the Iranian nation.”

The IRNA English report places the exchange in the context of a week in which Trump issued “highly insulting and threatening statements against Iran,” and it frames Pezeshkian’s response as a rebuttal to hostile rhetoric from Iran’s enemies.

PressTV says the remarks came after the U.S. military launched a fresh wave of air raids on Iran’s southern coastal region, and it adds that Iran’s Armed Forces retaliated by targeting multiple sites of the U.S. military in the Persian Gulf region and Jordan with ballistic missiles and drones.

Oman rejects threats

In Oman, Trump’s comments about the Sultanate of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz sparked anger after he said the strait would be “open to all” and that the United States “will take charge of guarding it,” warning Muscat against “interference.”

The Lebanon Debate report quotes Omani editor-in-chief Hatem Al-Tai linking Trump’s statements to what he described as “his deep and complex crisis,” and it says Al-Tai believes the American president “is not capable of fighting and not capable of opening the strait.”

The same report includes a counterpoint from political researcher Mohammed Said Al-Futaisi, who said “the Sultanate of Oman is a regional power that does not speak the language of bargaining or subservience,” recalling late Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s statements about coexistence and peace alongside the ability to defend sovereignty.

Arabic21 similarly reports that Trump warned Oman that “Oman will act as any other country would, and otherwise we will have to blow it up,” and it quotes Ali bin Masoud Al-Maashni saying “America's follies and provocative policies are what made Iran a major regional power.”

Escalation and next steps

PressTV says the United States has perpetrated “numerous violations against Iranian territory since April 7,” when Trump announced a unilateral ceasefire in the latest bout of US-Israeli aggression targeting the Islamic Republic.

It adds that the violations continued even after Washington and Tehran signed a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding in June, whose first clause “clearly mandates cessation of aggression on all fronts,” and it frames U.S. efforts to help vessels evade Iran’s maritime route through the Strait of Hormuz as part of the dispute.

In retaliation, PressTV says Iran’s Armed Forces targeted multiple sites of the U.S. military in the Persian Gulf region and Jordan with ballistic missiles and drones, and it describes Iran’s response as “uncompromising” in the face of each instance of violation.

IRNA English, meanwhile, returns to the political message from Pezeshkian about unity and solidarity, warning that “any behavior or actions creating division within society would weaken the country’s strength,” as the confrontation over Trump’s remarks continues.
