Grand Mosque muezzin dies
Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani, a muezzin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, died in the early hours of Monday, according to reports. Inside the Haramain shared footage of Sheikh Ibrahim reciting the Azan in the early hours of Monday, just hours before his death. Al-Ekhbariya announced the death of the Grand Mosque’s muezzin Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Madani at the age of about 51, and Al-Jazeera Net said he was one of the 24 main muezzins who rotate to call the adhan for the five daily prayers and the dawn adhan.
Gulf News said Sheikh Al Madani was one of 24 principal muezzins at the Grand Mosque, with six taking turns each day to deliver the call to prayer for the five daily prayers, in addition to the first call for the dawn prayer. Khaleej Times said Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani died in the early hours of Monday, September 21, and said his final call to prayer was the first Fajr adhan on Monday.
Final call and funeral
Inside the Haramain said Sheikh Ibrahim’s final call to prayer was the Fajr Azan delivered at the Grand Mosque on Monday, marking the end of his service at Islam’s holiest mosque. Khaleej Times said the funeral prayer for Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani will be held after the Asr prayer on Monday at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, and it said he will then be laid to rest at Al Mualla Cemetery. Aaj English TV said Sheikh Ibrahim’s funeral prayer will be offered after the Asr prayer on Monday at the Grand Mosque, and it said he will subsequently be buried at Al Mualla Cemetery in Makkah.
Nigerian Voice said Inside the Haramain reported that Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani’s final Adhan at Masjid Al-Haram was on 11 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH, and it quoted the account saying, "The final Adhan raised by Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani in Masjid Al Haram on 11 Rabi Al Awwal 1448." Punch Newspapers said Inside the Haramain posted on X that his final Adhan at Masjid Al-Haram was on 11 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448, and it quoted the tweet: "The final Adhan raised by Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani in Masjid Al Haram on 11 Rabi Al Awwal 1448."

Al-Jazeera Net said a hashtag with Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madini circulated, and it said Twitter users shared clips of his adhan and Eid takbeers at the Grand Mosque. Al-Jazeera Net said Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madini was known for the dawn adhan, performing Eid takbeers, and the task of 'conveying' behind the imam in the Grand Mosque.
Gulf News said Sheikh Al Madani was particularly known for the Fajr adhan and for reciting the takbeers, and it said he also carried out the duty of relaying the imam's takbeers to worshippers from the mosque's muezzins' platform. The Siasat Daily said a video shared by Inside the Haramain showed what it described as Al Madani’s final Azaan at the Grand Mosque on Monday, 11 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH, and it said the call to prayer was heard through the mosque’s loudspeakers.
