Crypto.com deals end
Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), the entity behind Truth Social, mutually terminated its plans with Crypto.com and Yorkville Acquisition Corp for the “Trump Media Group CRO Strategy,” citing “prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities.”
“the plan has been mutually terminated as they cited “prevailing market conditions””
The termination scrapped the original idea of receiving $1 billion worth of CRO supplied by Crypto.com and a $5 billion credit facility, and it also ended plans for Crypto.com to service certain anticipated ETFs from Yorkville America.

CryptoPotato said the CRO token reacted with an immediate nosedive that pushed it to just under $0.05, while its market cap slumped to under $2.4 billion and it fell to the 37th position.
Cointelegraph described the pullback as TMTG unwinding an agreement with Crypto.com to create a multibillion-dollar CRO treasury and reportedly not integrate prediction markets onto Truth Social.
CoinDesk added that the proposed venture would have created a publicly traded company focused on accumulating Cronos native CRO and earning additional returns by staking those holdings.
McGurn explains pivot
Interim CEO Kevin McGurn told Axios, as described by Cryptonews.net, that TMTG would pull back from two Crypto.com deals aimed at creating a $6.4 billion CRO treasury and integrating prediction markets into its Truth Social platform.
Cryptonews.net said the companies cited “prevailing market conditions and shifting business and stakeholder priorities” for dissolving the treasury deal, and it tied the pivot to TMTG focusing on a merger with energy company TAE.

TradingView reported that McGurn told Axios the strategic simplification would streamline operations as the firm prepared to close its proposed merger with TAE before year-end.
TradingView also said the CRO treasury initiative was designed to license the Trump Media brand to accumulate a large treasury of Crypto.com’s native CRO token on its Cronos blockchain.
CoinDesk said McGurn told Axios that the digital asset treasury market has become saturated, forcing the company to turn its attention to media, data licensing and completing its proposed merger with fusion-energy firm TAE.
Scrutiny and next steps
The decision to unwind the CRO treasury and prediction-market plans comes as the US president continues to face scrutiny from lawmakers, with Cryptonews.net saying they are calling for ethics provision in a crypto market structure bill to eliminate conflicts of interest between the Trump family and its digital asset investments.
“The US president continues to face scrutiny from many lawmakers calling for ethics provision”
CoinDesk reported that the retreat also happens as the CLARITY Act has stalled in Washington amid debate over ethics and potential conflicts of interest tied to President Donald Trump and his family’s crypto ventures.
CoinDesk added that Trump Media bought $105 million of CRO in September 2025 as part of a broader partnership with Crypto.com that included plans to integrate token rewards into its products.
CryptoPotato said the CRO token dumped to its lowest price position since October 2023 at just under $0.05, and it reported CRO is down by over 94% from its all-time high of $0.89 marked in late 2021.
TradingView said the Truth Social company plans to refocus resources on its core social network, expand data licensing, and advance a pending merger with TAE, a fusion energy firm, according to an exclusive interview with interim CEO Kevin McGurn published by Axios.
