Strikes and warnings

The United States launched a 12th continuous night of strikes against targets in Iran as Tehran warned of regional turmoil and said “no infrastructure will be safe” unless its own security is guaranteed.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it launched the strikes “to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting regional waters”.

Iran’s chief negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf delivered the message in a post on X after US President Donald Trump threatened to attack more Iranian power plants and bridges, saying “In a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil.”

Iran’s Ministry of Health said US attacks since late last month have killed 53 people, including three children, and injured 590 others.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would retaliate “an eye for an eye” against any future attacks, adding “Any aggression against Iran, including our infrastructure, will compel a powerful and decisive response.”

Retaliation across the region

Iran warned that if the United States attacks Iran’s nuclear and other sensitive sites, Tehran will expand its strikes and target US and its allies’ interests across the region, according to Iranian state media reporting from Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters.

The warning came in response to Trump’s threat that US forces would "pretty soon" strike an Iranian nuclear facility reportedly located beneath a mountain in the central province of Isfahan.

The escalation also included Iran’s launch of a new wave of drone strikes targeting US military facilities in Kuwait, with Tasnim reporting hits on ammunition depots and logistical equipment at Camp Doha.

In Kuwait, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said several power generation and water desalination plants were attacked on Monday evening, triggering fires at multiple facilities, and it said several electricity generating units were taken offline as a precaution.

The Jordan Armed Forces said its air defense systems intercepted and shot down three Iranian missiles and “neutralized” five drones launched from Iran overnight and Tuesday morning, with no casualties or damage reported.

Hormuz threat and stakes

Trump raised the stakes on Wednesday by saying the US would attack one power plant or bridge in Iran every time Iranian forces target a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran insisted the strait must remain under its control.

completed the 11th consecutive evening of strikes against Iran

In a statement posted on X, Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said, “In a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil,” and added that if Iranian security is not ensured, “no infrastructure will be safe.”

Rudaw reported that Ghalibaf said the security of the Strait of Hormuz is contingent on “the absence of US forces,” and that “We have said many times that the situation in the Strait will not return to what it was before the war.”

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said its forces “completed the 11th consecutive evening of strikes against Iran” overnight, accusing Tehran of attacking more than 30 commercial vessels transiting Hormuz and saying the attacks “have endangered hundreds of innocent mariners and undermined freedom of navigation.”

Rudaw also reported that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Wednesday that “in retaliation” for the US strikes, its forces struck US assets in Jordan and Kuwait, as the exchange of threats continued over regional infrastructure and oil flows.
