The concurrent resolution would have directed Trump to "remove the use of United States Armed Forces from hostilities against the Islamic Republic of Iran" unless explicitly authorized.

Tillis, who was leaving the Senate in January, was the only Republican to vote in favor of a war powers resolution for the first time.
NPR quoted Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer saying, "Americans are getting crushed at the gas pumps, working families are getting cleaned out at grocery store counters," ahead of Thursday's vote.
Reuters said the vote was largely symbolic and that the Trump administration had not changed policy in response to previous war powers votes.

The Senate had considered Iran war powers resolutions 14 times since US and Israeli forces began bombing Iran on February 28, and it said the Senate voted in favor only twice.
