Gallego said, "It really goes to the deep, deep, deep problem here is that this administration did not plan for this war," and he argued that the comments from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and President Donald Trump could discourage service members from re-enlisting.

ABC News reported that retired Adm. AMike Mullen said he spoke with U.S. Central Command commander Brad Cooper on Saturday evening and was told that any poor conditions aboard the Lincoln have been addressed and that morale improved after the crew learned it would be returning home.

Mullen told Raddatz that "One of the positives of Cooper's visit yesterday is he announced to the crew that they're going home" and said morale was up significantly from where it was just a few days earlier.
