Xi set for Sept 23-25
China’s Foreign Ministry announced that President Xi Jinping will undertake a state visit to the United States from September 23 to 25 at the invitation of President Donald Trump. Xi will travel to the United States for talks with Trump, and Guo Jiakun said Beijing will work with the United States to “enrich the content of the relationship of constructive strategic stability between China and the United States.”
Guo Jiakun also said Beijing will “reinforce dialogue and cooperation, and properly manage differences,” as the two governments prepare for the visit. The Foreign Ministry said the trip will be the second summit between the leaders of the world’s two largest economies in 2026, after Trump’s visit to Beijing in May, and the third face-to-face meeting since Trump’s return to the White House in January 2025.
Meetings and preparations
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Xi will hold talks with President Donald Trump during the state visit from Wednesday to Friday this week. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Xi and Trump agreed in October 2025 to a fragile truce after months of a trade war that was solidified at the May summit.
