Shooting near Neve Tzuf
A Palestinian gunman opened fire from inside a car with a Palestinian license plate toward settlers near a water spring in the Neve Ze’ev area, previously known as the Halamish settlement, northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, and then withdrew from the scene.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Ramallah, Fatima Khmaisi, said the attacker fired toward settlers near the water spring before he withdrew, while the Israeli Army announced the start of a manhunt after the attacker managed to withdraw from the scene.
Israeli media reported the shooting targeted settlers in the Neve Ze’ev area, noting that the attacker fired from a car and fled the scene, and Israeli Army Radio, quoting a medical source, said one of the wounded was in critical condition.
The Israeli ambulance service said resuscitation efforts continued at the scene, and Al Jazeera reported that large forces from the Israeli army moved into the area and began closing its entrances and exits as part of the search for the perpetrator.
Arrests, raids, and readiness
Beyond the Neve Tzuf area, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that its crews treated two people injured by settlers’ assault in the Wadi al-Shajir area between the eastern village of al-Laban and the city of Salfit, including one who was stabbed in the thigh and another injured in the head.
The Palestinian News Agency (Wafa) said Israeli forces arrested a citizen, early today, from the town of Aqaba north of Tubas, and it quoted local sources as saying that Israeli forces arrested citizen Ayman Qasim, father to two prisoners, after raiding his home in the town.
In the same reporting, Wafa said that on Saturday evening Israeli forces arrested eight Palestinians, including a father and son, from the village of Adqiya in the Bidya area of Yatta, south of Hebron, after “terrorist settlers attacked the residents and attempted to steal livestock from the village.”
The Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that the Israeli security establishment is entering a state of operational readiness as the Day of Atonement approaches, and said that as of Saturday evening there was no intelligence indicating any party’s intention on the seven battlefronts—including Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, and the West Bank—to challenge the Israeli army.
Detention claims and wider impact
Israeli authorities said they detained a Palestinian man suspected of killing an Israeli settler in a shooting attack in the West Bank, and the military said a soldier had earlier shot and wounded the suspect at the scene.

Arab News reported that the Times of Israel, citing the military, said the suspect was later found at a hospital near Ramallah, while Palestine’s official WAFA News Agency said Israeli forces raided H-Clinic Specialized Hospital in Ramallah and detained an injured Palestinian receiving treatment there.
The same set of reports placed the shooting near a natural spring in the West Bank, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying, “Our forces are pursuing the terrorist who carried out the deadly attack,” according to AFP.
