Strikes and Zelensky’s claim
Russian strikes across Ukraine on Saturday killed nine people and injured dozens, with local officials reporting three deaths in Kramatorsk after Russian forces struck a private car.

In Zaporizhzhia, two people were killed and 11 injured, and in Kryvyi Rih two were killed, while it was “not immediately clear where the other two deaths occurred.”
Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky alleged that Russia had “expanded the war away from the front, where they have no success, into the economy,” adding, “Russia wants to kill the Ukrainian economy and break our resistance.”
On the other side of the frontline, the administrator of Russian-held eastern Donetsk said Ukrainian drone attacks killed at least three people, according to the Newswav account.
Putin at BRICS and Europe
During his visit to India for the BRICS summit, Russian president Vladimir Putin warned that “deploying European troops to Ukraine would mean a war with Russia,” as he spoke to reporters in New Delhi.
Putin also characterized Europe’s political upheaval as the result of “systemic mistakes” by the West, saying, “I think that everything that is now happening in Europe as a whole is the result of systemic mistakes by the so-called West.”
The Anadolu Ajansı report framed Putin’s warning as a direct threat of escalation, quoting him: “They are now considering sending troops to Ukrainian territories, and this means entering into war with Russia.”
In the same BRICS context, Putin said he would offer no comment on the Sept 6 top result for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) in Saxony-Anhalt, but then blamed “Western globalists” for events in Europe, including the election.
Gas prices and sanctions pressure
Putin told reporters in New Delhi that “European gas prices could rise to as high as $1,500 per 1,000 cubic meters (㎥),” and he said current prices were at “$1,000 or 1,000 euros.”

He argued that Russia supplied gas at “$150 and $180 per 1,000 cubic meters,” but Europe “demanded a transition to a 'market pricing system',” and he said “As a result, all they got was higher prices.”
The Newswav account also reported UK national security advisor Jonathan Powell saying Europe should be ready to endure “ real hardship” this winter to maintain sustained economic pressure on Russia, claiming sanctions on Moscow were yielding results.
In the same Newswav report, Zelensky wrote on Telegram that Russia had deployed nearly 500 drones against Ukrainian targets since early morning, while the BRICS-related coverage continued to frame the conflict as tied to economic pressure and infrastructure attacks.
