Civilians still displaced
The UN refugee agency said continued Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon are still affecting civilians, sometimes preventing people from returning home or causing localized displacement.

UNHCR spokesperson Babar Baloch wrote that “Continued Israeli strikes and military activity in southern Lebanon continue to affect civilians and can, at times, hinder returns or trigger localized displacement.”
An Anadolu Ajansı report said more than 350,000 people remain displaced across Lebanon as of mid-August, while approximately 860,000 people have returned to their communities of origin or nearby areas.A
The same UNHCR statement said around 23,000 people remain in collective shelters, and it added that UNHCR continues to monitor displacement trends closely with partners.
The Anadolu Ajansı piece also said Israeli attacks and military activity continued despite a ceasefire that took effect on April 17 and was subsequently extended several times.A
Strikes despite truce
Hürriyet Daily News reported that Israel carried out a series of attacks across southern Lebanon on Aug. H31 despite an ongoing ceasefire.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) said Israeli drones flew at low altitude over several towns in the Tyre district before three airstrikes hit Mansouri and the nearby al-Mashaa area.
The report said Israeli warplanes also carried out several strikes on Zawtar al-Sharqiya in the Nabatieh district, while a large detonation near Beaufort Castle and artillery fire targeted surrounding towns.
It added that repeated explosions in Qantara caused part of Mount Qantara to collapse, and that Israeli drones were also seen flying at low altitude over Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The Hürriyet Daily News account tied the renewed activity to Israel’s March 2 campaign, saying the Lebanese government said the fighting displaced more than 1 million people.H
New raids in south
Al-Manar TV Lebanon reported that Israeli air raids struck the Dabsheh area in South Lebanon, describing it as happening about an hour ago.

The same Al-Manar live updates also said Israeli air raids struck the Al-Qantara town in South Lebanon about an hour ago.
Al-Manar’s feed placed the updates under a timestamped entry for Tuesday, 01/09/2026, linking the new strikes to the ongoing pattern of attacks described by other sources.
Taken together with the UNHCR statement carried by Anadolu Ajansı, the Al-Manar reports underscore that localized displacement and hindered returns remain part of the situation described for southern Lebanon.A
